Families Far from Home Receive Support Comforts at Intermountain Rose Hill Hospitality House

Sometimes, seeking health care requires extensive travel for patients and their families. When that happens, comfort care and support is important. At Intermountain Rose Hill Hospitality House, just minutes from Intermountain Health St. Mary’s Regional Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado, that comfort looks like a fresh cup of coffee, a friendly smile, and a place to rest close to loved ones.

The week of July 20-24 is celebrated as National Healthcare Hospitality Week.

On July 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Rose Hill Hospitality House will welcome the community for a special open house, giving guests a chance to tour the space, meet caregivers, and see how this unique home supports patients and families during some of life’s most challenging moments.

Located a block from Intermountain St. Mary’s Regional Hospital and the Cancer Centers of Colorado, Rose Hill offers 20 guest rooms with private bathrooms, along with shared dining, kitchen, and gathering spaces.

It serves patients receiving care and their families, including those with loved ones in intensive care and families with babies in the neonatal intensive care unit.

Since opening in 1998, Rose Hill Hospitality House has grown to meet the needs of the community. Today, it supports thousands of families each year—welcoming guests from across the country and beyond. In 2025 alone, Rose Hill:

• Hosted 1,658 guests
• Provided 9,654 nights of rest
• Welcomed visitors from 44 states and three countries

“Rose Hill exists to make sure no one has to face care alone,” said Jennie Mason, hospitality house manager. “We’re here to listen, to help, and to create a place where people can feel supported during a difficult time.”

The hospitality house operates seven days a week and is made possible entirely thanks to community support through the Intermountain Health Foundation.

Donations from linens and towels to simple pantry staples help keep the doors open and rooms ready for families in need.

Guests are asked for a suggested donation of $25 per night to help offset costs, but no one is turned away due to inability to pay.
