Doherty Enterprises, Inc. announced today its popular Shannon Rose Irish Pub in Clifton, NJ donated several large trays of their signature beef chili to help Clifton’s only food pantry, St. Peter’s Haven, raise $3,500 to help fight food insecurity in the local area.

Shannon Rose donated several trays of beef chili to St. Peter’s Haven’s Empty Bowls fundraiser event which was held on November 10th. Empty Bowls, a community initiative focused on combating food insecurity, gathered local supporters for a delightful fundraising dinner. The $30-per-person event featured Shannon Rose's beef chili, as well as dishes from other local restaurants, which were served in beautifully handcrafted ceramic bowls. Attendees enjoyed the savory chili while learning about food insecurity in the area while ultimately supporting St. Peter’s Haven Food Pantry's crucial mission.

"At Shannon Rose, we take great pride in being part of the Clifton community and supporting causes like St. Peter’s Haven,” said Shannon Doherty Portell, Vice President of Brand Development of Doherty Enterprises.  “It’s heartwarming to witness the community come together over a shared meal to make a difference. We’re so happy Shannon Rose and our incredible chili were able to play a role."

Liz Loden, organizer of the Empty Bowls event for St. Peter’s Haven, commended Shannon Rose's dedication, noting, "Shannon Rose has been a tremendous ally in our fight against hunger. Their continuous support and delicious chili significantly bolstered our fundraising efforts. We are incredibly grateful for their generosity."

Moreover, in addition to their chili donation at the Empty Bowls event, Shannon Rose has upheld a tradition of goodwill by providing holiday lunches for the dedicated volunteers and staff at St. Peter’s Haven Food Pantry for the past two years.

“People enjoyed the event and chili so much, they’ve asked us to hold the event again next year,” said Loden.

St. Peter’s Haven Food Pantry plays a vital role in Clifton, catering to over 2,600 individuals monthly by providing essential groceries, including nonperishable items, bread, meat, produce, and more, to alleviate hunger in the community.
